January 2009 Worship & Arts Schedule (Happy New Year)

Happy New Year Everyone!
Well, we made it through another year and thankful for God's supervision over all of us. May this new year of 2009 be a great year ahead for all of us. Every year is a brand new start to look forward in how the Lord will work in us and through us to make Himself known to all people that we may touch this next year. I'm looking forward to a great new start with all of you in this month of January. Pastor Dennis sent out an email to the whole congregation about this coming year and I really love the verse he brought into context for this new year. From Jeremiah 27:11- “I know the plans I have for you,” say the Lord. “Plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope”. We find assurance through these words and my hope is that those that we love and think about daily in our lives would find this assurance that the Lord has given. May 2009 be a better year for all of us and those you and I love!

**UPDATE: CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE CANCELED**

    Well, its only been about 2 hours later that i write again and have the final update on this weeks schedule outlook for Christmas Eve.

 

Due to the enormous amount of snow and ice across the Portland Metro area, our church staff and executive team have made the decision to CANCEL the Christmas Eve Candlelight service that was scheduled for 5pm on Christmas Eve 12.24.08. Because we will no longer have our Christmas Eve gathering, we will not continue with our scheduled rehearsal in light of the cancellation.

    This is an unusual year for us to be in one of the worst snow storms that Portland has had dating back since 1968. We want each and everyone of you to remember that we take this matter seriously as to making sure our church and guests are first of all safe before arriving to any of our services. That's why this decision has been made. I can relate to the fact that I'm stuck at home with 17 inches of snow here in Tigard. Same with so many others out there too.

    I personally want to thank you all for your patience throughout the weeks that I've been bringing updates leading up to the events and I want you all to know that I'm blessed to have a team like you! Just because we can't do our Christmas Eve service doesn't mean that Christmas will never be the same. For many of us, this could be the most memorable Christmas to have.... Snow and hot cocoa, snuggling with your loved one by the fire or gas/electric fire :)), and just that time of spending with your family sharing stories together. I hope you all get to have that time this Christmas and I encourage you to do so with those around you and the neighbors around your neighborhood.

 Share the Love of God and the good news of Christ Jesus that came down with His love to save us all from darkness to bring Light to world.

**Christmas Week Schedule Update**- PLEASE READ! (as of 12pm on 12.22.08)

Good Afternoon,
    Another snowy day on this Monday afternoon of December 22nd, 2008.

Ok, here is the latest as of 12pm. The rehearsal for tonight is CANCELED due to the weather. We are rescheduling to have rehearsal Tuesday night at 7pm if everything looks ok with the weather and that were able to get out of the house by then.

I'm going to put a list of procedures that could end up to be the scenrio in the event that our winter storm continues through Christmas Eve:

1. Christmas Eve Rehearsal Postponed for Tuesday evening @ 7pm

2. Practice Songs from home by the link i've sent to those that are scheduled to be in the Christmas Eve Program

3. If were not able to have rehearsal on Tuesday evening, we will have the rehearsal first thing on Christmas Eve in the afternoon with a few hours before the service. **UPDATES ON THE ACTUAL TIME WILL BE NOTIFIED HERE SOON**

4. Please call, email, and text ASAP if you're having problems due to weather if you are unable to make the scheduled rehearsals.

5. PLEASE CHECK BACK ON THIS BLOG FOR UPDATES!

Christmas Eve Service & Rehearsals

Good Afternoon Everyone:

    What a week and what a weekend it’s been in Portland and around the areas. Tigard got 11 inches of snow and now there’s a half inch sheet of ice on it. Seriously, haven’t seen this much snow in Portland. The last time I probably saw this much amount of snow was when I was little and we had a huge winter storm in 1989-1990. Long time ago :))

*    Well, you must be wondering what’s going to happen this week since Christmas Eve Candlelight is a few days from now. Honestly, I know just as much as you and I can’t predict more than what we’ve already seen, but we are still looking forward to our Christmas Eve gathering together

**    About Rehearsals this week... We have a Monday night rehearsal scheduled for 7pm in the sanctuary for everyone that is in the program. Band, Worship Team, & Vocal Ensemble, Video Team, and Sound Team, and Service Coordinators.
The rehearsal is still on for tomorrow night... You will here further from me as we see how the weather will look for Monday evening. Please look back at the blog by noon on Monday as we will all have a better look at how things are, for the rest of the day. For now, we are staying with the plan of having rehearsal tomorrow evening at 7pm.
